Vishal Veeru Devgn was born on 2nd April 1969 and he is professionally known as Ajay Devgn. He is an Indian actor, film director, and producer, working primarily in Hindi cinema and Bollywood movies. He has family connections to the Hindi film industry in the city of Mumbai. Devgn’s father, Veeru Devgan, was a stunt choreographer and action-film director and his mother, Veena, is a film producer.
Being a leading actor, he has appeared in over 100 films and has won numerous accolades and awards such as four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. In the year 2016, he was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri Award, which is the country’s fourth-highest civilian honor. For portraying the title role in the movie ‘Tanhaji’ , he won his third National Film Award for Best Actor.
Devgn’s firs film which was titled ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ got released in 1991. This movie earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He further did action roles in the films ‘Jigar’ (1992), ‘Vijaypath’ (1994), ‘Dilwale’’ (1994), ‘Jaan’ (1996), and ‘Diljale’ (1996). Moreoever, he played romantic roles in movies such as ‘Ishq’ (1997), ‘Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha’ (1998), and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999). For playing a riot victim in the film ‘Zakhm’ and ‘Bhagat Singh in The Legend of Bhagat Singh’, he twice won the National Film Award for Best Actor. He also gained much popularity as well as praise for the crime dramas such as Company, which was released in 2002 and Omkara (2006).
In 2006, he further expanded his roles to comedy movies with Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’, Devgn collaborated with Shetty on a number of action and comedy films, including ‘Golmaal Returns’ (2008),’ Golmaal 3 ‘(2010), ‘Singham’ (2011), ‘Singham Returns’ (2014), and ‘Golmaal Again’ (2017). His highest-grossing releases came with ‘Total Dhamaal’(2019), ‘Tanhaji’ (2020) and ‘Drishyam 2’ (2022). Furthermore , Devgn owns a production company Ajay Devgn FFilms, which was established in 2000.
